A Boulder municipal utility will lead to economic development and job creation for our community.

With a muni, Boulder will be able to attract energy-innovating businesses and associated jobs and help our city (and country) become more competitive, with the potential for global impact.  We can help create jobs through local power generation, energy efficiency programs and clean energy entrepreneurial opportunities. Currently Xcel takes over $100 million per year out of our community.  Keeping even a fraction of that in the community would help our economy. It is estimated that every $1 invested locally multiplies 3.5 times for our local economy.  As time goes on, the benefits will increase as we enjoy more and more renewables but avoid the constant fuel and pollution cost increases. This additional money in our pockets will be great for Boulder businesses!
